Rowlett Stop On Red
Stop On Red Program
According to the Federal Highway Administration, more than 2.7 million intersection crashes occur across the country annually, resulting in over 9,000 fatalities each year. More than 50% of all reported crashes each year and 22% of all injury crashes occur in an intersection. Effective traffic management remains a high priority for our citizens, the business community and city officials.
The Rowlett Police Department has always made red-light enforcement a major priority in traffic enforcement. Significant resources have been dedicated toward this problem, yet we still see senseless collisions and injuries being caused by red light runners. As part of Rowlett's continuing traffic safety enforcement efforts, the City is implementing Rowlett's Stop On Red, an automated red light enforcement program. For more information on technical issues of the program only, contact the Police Department at 972-412-6200. For payment information please contqct the program administrator at 800-603-4998 or use their
online payment site.
Camera Locations and Criteria
The use of cameras to capture red light violations comes as a part of the City's increasing efforts to make the streets safer for everyone. Cameras will be located at four intersections:
- Rowlett Road and Hickox Road
- Rowlett Road and Beech Street
- Rowlett Road and Chaha Road
- Lakeview Parkway and Chiesa Road
All locations have been selected based on the following criteria:
- Crashes
- Current and future construction plans
- Extent of red light running
Notice of violations will be issued to violators by mail. The violation will carry a $75 civil penalty and will not appear on a person's driving record. To pay this fine, you may
pay online or contact the payment administrator at 800-603-4998.
