On November 4, 2008, the Rowlett City Council approved ordinances that updated the Building Codes used by the Inspections Department. Builders and contractors must follow these International Codes when completing a job. Below are the new codes and approved amendments that shall be used when submitting plans for permitting.

Chapter 77 offers information on general provisions for development in the city, zoning, and regulates uses within the city.  Chapter 78 provides information on the City of Rowlett adopting the International Building Codes with Rowlett's amendments.

Texas Administrative Code
Rowlett adopted the regulations of the Texas State Law known as the Texas Administrative Code regarding irrigation (sprinkler installation) in Rowlett.
