Identity Theft is a serious problem that can negatively affect your credit rating and create a hardship for you and your family. Identity theft occurs when someone tries or actually does defraud you by using your personal information such as your name and/or date of birth. It also applies to someone using your social security number, driver’s license number or financial institution account number.
Reporting Identity Theft
The Rowlett Police Department accepts reports of identity theft regardless of where your information was used. Contact the Rowlett Police Department at 972-412-6200 and select Option 1. However, if the theft did not actually occur in the City of Rowlett, you must contact the law enforcement agency where it occurred.

When reporting a case of identity theft please provide the following information:
- All types of supporting documentation as to why you believe you are a victim of identity theft
- Copies of debt collection letters, credit reports and any notarized bank and/or credit card statements showing the unauthorized activity on the account. Your financial institution may also require that an ID Theft Affidavit be completed and submitted to them.
