How Rowlett residents can help those impacted by Hurricane Harvey

The impact of Hurricane Harvey in Houston and throughout south Texas is devastating. Entire neighborhoods are gone, communities have been destroyed, tens of thousands are now without a home. And the full impact is unknown, there is still massive flooding and evacuations are ongoing. Here in Rowlett, we know this situation firsthand. Our community has lived this and our perspective is unique, the empathy we feel is real and tangible. And now, as the transport of evacuees to the Metroplex is underway, it’s time for us to help.

The Dallas Mega Center at the Dallas Convention Center will provide a temporary shelter for thousands of our fellow Texans. Rowlett Police and Fire Rescue currently have staff deployed onsite, and we will remain there until the need for assistance has passed! Rowlett Firefighter/Paramedics have also deployed to south Texas with a fully staffed MICU ambulance.

Please visit www.DallasHelpForHarvey.org to learn how YOU can assist those impacted by volunteering, donating or even opening up your home to a displaced family.
